Session 3, Week 2 From the Camp Directors:
Each week of camp keeps getting better and better! The fun just won’t stop!
With this session, each day was celebrating a different holiday or event—Monday was all about Jingle Bells in July, as we celebrated the Holiday Season with a morning of activities that included a present wrapping scooter relay, a candy relay, and a fun game of Holiday Telephone. Campers also had fun decorating their counselors into a Holiday Tree! In the afternoon, we stayed active in the gym playing Put Out and Bug Out, while also swimming in the pool and climbing on the rockwall.
Tuesday was an exciting day for camp, as we celebrated all things Mardi Gras! The morning was highlighted by making shoebox floats, and our campers showed a lot of creativity in making some great floats. Campers also participated in an educational Firearm Safety Presentation. In the afternoon, campers had a great time doing KidFit with Mr. Chase, one of the UREC fitness instructors, while also playing Mardi Gras games like Pass the Baby and Find the Doubloons. We finished off the day with a special parade where the counselors carrying the floats around the track in the gym and threw beads down for the campers for our own Tiger’s Den parade—so many beads!
On Wednesday, we celebrated the Fourth of July holiday a day early with a morning of different rotations all themed in the Independence Day spirit. This included playing the American Flag Tag Relay as well as an awesome Abe Lincoln Spoon Relay and an active game of Red, White, & Blue Tag. We ended the day with some water fun in the sun on our outdoor waterslide, while also cooling off with a swim in the pool. Campers not swimming had a lot of fun playing Tiger Ball and BBK (Basketball, Baseball, & Kickball) in the gym.
After taking Thursday off in observation of the holiday, we came back to camp on Friday to the celebration of a New Year! After making resolutions in the morning, we had a ton of fun with a New Years Celebration Carnival, which included activities like Freeze Dance, a Dress-Up Photo Booth, Facepainting, and Tattoos. Before going to lunch, we counted down to the “New Year” with confetti, balloons, and noisemakers, and it was too much fun! In the afternoon, we finished off the week with swimming, rock climbing, and gym games, including the always celebrated King Pin.
It’s been another awesome week of Tiger’s Den, filled with celebration and fun! Thank you to all those families who shared the Tiger’s Den experience with us this week, and we’ll see you soon!
