Laurie Braden, LSU UREC Executive DirectorLSU ends the Spring 2018 semester after having the new LSU UREC facility open for almost a year.  I couldn’t be prouder of our team. The UREC staff has developed, and we have increased our participation numbers and the number of students we impact everyday.  Our accomplishments have been significant, and below is a glimpse into the numbers from the 2017-18 academic year.

  • 22,564 individuals visited LSU UREC
  • 580,647 total entrances
  • 78% of all LSU students entered the UREC facility
  • 24,678 GroupX participations
  • 24,569 Intramural Sport participations
  • Over 19,000 indoor and outdoor pool visits
  • 4,286 students climbed in the climbing area

Not only are we proud of the accomplishments seen in numbers, but we are even more proud of our efforts to build a safe and inclusive environment.  LSU UREC is committed to providing an inclusive place to play, no matter one’s race, ethnicity, gender identity, social economic background, sexual orientation, religion or ability.  This is why we are excited to update our contribution to the “You Can Play Project“.

LSU UREC is committed to improving on a daily basis.  To help us evaluate how we served our members this last year, please fill out this short assessment that will take you 3-5 minutes.  Everyone who completely fills out the assessment will be entered to win a prize that can be used towards UREC services that include: IM registrations, personal training, adventure education trips, summer memberships, or swim lessons.

As we move into the summer and begin to welcome one of the largest incoming classes to LSU, we challenge them to learn, play, and succeed at LSU UREC.  We will continue to provide outstanding service to our students and strive to provide an environment that is inclusive for all.

If you can play, you can play at LSU UREC.

On behalf of the UREC Team,
Laurie Braden
