UREC’s expansion and redesign process will occur over the course of three different phases. Throughout the duration of the project, UREC members will begin to see different completed projects along the way. The anticipated completion date for the entirety of the UREC expansion and redesign project is slated for the Fall of 2016.

Phase I-A: Field Expansion


  • Expand current field complex on River Road and Gourrier Avenue
  • Move and replace four lighted softball fields and four lighted multi-purpose fields
  • Expand fields to include fields that encompass four softball fields in a wagon wheel configuration

 

Phase I-B: Challenge Course


  • New Challenge Course across from the current Student Recreation Complex

 

Phase II: Parking Addition & New Tennis Courts


  • Add just over 300 parking spaces and 9 new tennis courts at current Student Recreation Complex

 

Phase III: SRC Expansion & Redesign


  • Update current indoor swimming pool
  • Gut and redesign locker rooms
  • Move administration offices to the front of the facility to better serve students
  • Expand 13,000 sq. ft. of cardio/weight space to 40,000 sq. ft.
  • Add to current facility:
    • Approximately half-mile indoor running trail
    • Turfed CrossFit training slope
    • 38 ft. climbing wall
    • Outdoor pool area with LSU logo shaped lazy river and 8 lane lap pool
    • Additional five courts which will increase court space from 5 to 10, including multi-purpose courts
    • Fitness Assessment Center
