UREC Director Laurie Braden gives an in-depth update on the progress of #URECexpansion as it relates to the Spring 2014 semester.
As the semester starts winding down, check out the progress of the #URECexpansion. Many projects are in full swing and moving forward as we approach the Spring semester!
You’ve heard the saying before…”If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” We have made it past one holiday, but there is another one on the way and plenty of holiday parties in between. Check out our helpful tips to keep you on track with your fitness & wellness goals!
UREC has released new renderings of #URECexpansion! From a 1/2 mile indoor jogging trail spanning two levels, additional court space, an outdoor leisure pool, and more…be sure to check out how the increase in recreation space at LSU will enable students to utilize programs and services to lead a healthy lifestyle!
Try indoor rowing on the new WaterRower M1 HiRise at UREC and tell us what you think! This new rower actually uses water as resistance in order to simulate rowing on water outdoors. Because you are using water as your resistance, it allows you to “be your own engine” – the amount of work you do will dictate the speed that you row so you can self-regulate the resistance and self-pace the intensity.
Thanks to all the runners and goblins who participated in this year’s Greg Gibbens Ghost Chase! It was a recording setting year as Gilman Ouelette raced to the finish line in a race record 10:07. Congrats to Gilman and the rest of the finishers and our best dressed in costume!
Beginning on Monday, November 4, the Small Group Training Room will be open Monday – Friday from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. to create more open recreation activity space for UREC members.
UREC is moving right along with the #urecexpansion project! See the progress of the Fields at River Rd. and that of the Student Recreation Complex that will see an additional 360 two hour parking spots and new tennis courts ready for use in January 2014!
Did you know the average person uses 167 bottles of water annually? Multiply that times the average $1.35 per bottle and you’ve already spent hundreds.
With the start of Phase II of the expansion and redesign project at the current Student Recreation Complex underway, contractors for the project will be staging at the north end of the 2 hour parking lot. Due to contract and job site liability, the parking spots at the end of the two hour lot will be unavailable throughout the duration of the expansion and redesign project.
I have been very pleased with my LSU fitness experiences. I have become healthier with more stamina through the guidance and tutelage of my instructor and support of those in my GET FIT for Faculty/Staff Fitness Specialty Course. Exercising at the LSU Student Recreation Center has become a part of my week and is intrinsic to my well-being. You gain strength and confidence all while doing something good for yourself. Come join us!
